INDIAN ICE HOCKEY TEAM:THE TRENDING STORY!!!

                                                ICE HOCKEY..!!

  • India is making rapid strides in world sport with our athletes reaching the top in various sports like Cricket,Badminton,Tennis,Chess,Shooting,Kabaddi etc.
  • But now a certain sport called ICE HOCKEY which is lesser known to Indians is making all sorts of headlines in the country.

Why is Ice Hockey making headlines in the country???

The Indian Ice Hockey team is scheduled to play Championship cup of Asia in Kuwait from April 18-25.

What's the big deal in that..?
Well the thing is they do not have sufficient funds to go and play there and the sports federation i.e., the Ice Hockey Association of India(IHAI) too lack money,so,they took to social media to invite donations for their players to realize their dreams.
And that's the reason the sport of Ice Hockey is trending on social media.

  • The Federations touching message on social media read : 'We demand our share of love, because be it Cricket or Ice Hockey, the association of Tricolor shall be respected everywhere',Please support our Ice Hockey Team travelling to Kuwait. We need to raise funds for the team.A 20k donation will cover costs for 1 player'.

RESPONSE:

  • The response was tremendous.Donations came from South India Shelters,Mahindra Group,Cricketer Gautam Gambhir and various others.

Their target was reached and they promised to use the money for the players and the money that is left out will be used to develop facilities for Ice Hockey in India.

PLAYERS:

  • The players are neither full time nor professional players, but passionate players. The captain of the team is a B.Tech student and he reckons the team is ready to showcase it's talent and is confident that they will get the much needed support once they do well in the tournament.

After overcoming all the obstacles the team of 27 individuals reached kuwait to  prove themselves on the Asian Sporting arena.

ALL THE BEST to the Indian Ice Hockey Team!!!!

The entire nation will support you...

DO WELL and let the Tri colour flag fly high...!

HUMOROUS,SATIRICAL - "YET TRUE......"!!!

Friends,

  • Generally people have different opinions about politicians like,"some say they are responsible for corruption, some say they only come in to politics to earn money and not for serving people, some say they misuse their power for illegal deeds and only few say there are good politicians as well.Yes, I agree that there are good politicians but the sad part is they are only few in number.

  • The reason why I mentioned the above statements is that there is lot of dissatisfaction among majority of people  about politics and politicians.Taking that into perspective I would like to share 2 example stories which I have read on politics and politicians.

  • It may sound humorous, satirical but what I wish to convey is people are looking for good administration and it is the duty of the elected representatives to develop trust among people through their deeds which will help the society.

STORY 1:

A busload of politicians fell off a road deep into a farmers fields.Seeing this, the farmer rushed to the spot and started to dig a hole to bury the politicians.

Next day the police came to investigate and they asked the farmer,
"You buried all of them. But were they all dead?"

The Farmer replied,
...
....
......
..........
............
"Some of them said that they weren't dead. But you know, how 'politicians' lie".

STORY 2:

One night, a mugger pointed out a gun at a well dressed man and said,"Give me all your money".

The man replied,"You probably don't know who I am.I am a politician".

The mugger said,
...
....
......
........
............
...............
"In that case, give me all my money".

NZ vs SA(WORLD CUP SEMIFINAL):A GREAT SPECTACLE!!!!

2015  CRICKET WORLD CUP

  • All cricket lovers were disappointed with the one sided matches in the quarter finals but the match between South Africa and New Zealand lived up to the expectations with the match going all the way to the last over.
  •        Before the match, it was evident that one team is going to create history as the winner would reach the world cup finals for the first time. It was New Zealand today which made history.

MATCH STATS:
SOUTH AFRICA : 297-5(43 overs)    (D/L Method)
NEW ZEALAND : 299-5(42.5 overs)

  • There were key moments in the match which swung it in the favour of the Kiwis. Missed run-out chances, catches have costed South Africa dearly in their semifinal defeat.
  • It's an irony that South Africa produces some best teams and yet, they cannot go past the semifinal hurdle in the world cups. Whenever South Africa plays in the world cups it's not only their team's performance that has a bearing on the result but also the impact of rain as was the case today.
  • When the score was 216-3 in 38 overs the rain came down and the match was reduced to 43 overs per side and eventually RAIN again became the crucial factor in  South Africa's defeat. Who knows what would have happened if the rain hadn't come, they might have well scored in excess of 330 or 340 and it would have been a stiff target for New Zealand to chase it down.

But that's how cricket is and that's how life is.......we are just players in a script that has been already written.

Ecstasy on one side
Despair on the other

  • This match has seen some brilliant individual performances from both sides in both Bowling and Batting: Duplessis, De villiers, Miller, Mccullum, Anderson, Elliott with the Bat and Boult,Tahir, Morkel with the Ball.
  • A special mention to Grant Elliott, who was very composed under pressure and batted brilliantly to take New Zealand home in a tight situation.

IRONY:

  • A South African born(Grant Elliott) has paved the way for South Africa's exit from the world cup.
  • Nevertheless this match will go down as one of the greatest matches in the history of cricket let alone World Cup cricket.

A big salute to both the teams who have done so well.
                  Congratulations to New Zealand.

What can we say to South Africa?
You are a fantastic team and you will someday lift the world cup as there is none who deserve it more than you.Well played.

Hoping the coming matches will be as good as this one or even better!!!!!

21-02-2015:"INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY"

  •  The United Nations and people all over the world  celebrate the 'International Mother language Day' on 21 February 2015.

HISTORY AND SIGNIFICANCE:

  • The day was proclaimed by the General Conference of the United Nations Educations, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in November 1999.The United Nations General Assembly, on May 2007, called upon its member states "to promote the preservation and protection of all languages used by peoples of the world." The concept of the 'International Mother language Day' was thus created.
  • The first observance of the day was marked in February 2000 in order to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism in the world. The date 21 February has a great significance in history as it represents the day in 1952 when two students demonstrating for the recognition of Bangla as one of the two official languages in Pakistan were shot dead by police in Dhaka, which was then called 'East Pakistan'.
  • "All moves to promote the dissemination of mother tongues will serve not only to encourage linguistic diversity and multilingual education but also to develop fuller awareness of linguistic and cultural traditions throughout the world and to inspire solidarity based on understanding, tolerance and dialogue," the UN website added.

THEME OF 2015:
  • 2015 is the 15th anniversary of International Mother Language Day. The theme for this year is 'Inclusive Education through and with Language – Language Matters".

UN'S MESSAGE:
  • The Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova has mentioned in her message for the day that education in the mother language is an essential part in achieving the goals of equality education, inclusiveness and promotion of education for global citizenship.International Mother Language Day is a moment for all of us to raise the flag for the importance of mother tongue to all educational efforts, to enhance the quality of learning and to reach the unreached," she said via the official UN Website.

 FRIENDS,

MANY LANGUAGES,MANY DIVERSITIES BUT ONE COMMON DAY TO CELEBRATE!!!

  • Understand the uniqueness of your MOTHER LANGUAGE and be proud but never hesitate to speak in your Mother Language.

GOD AND THE SOLDIER : DO WE REMEMBER THEM ONLY IN TIMES OF NEED???

                                 IS OUR ATTITUDE RIGHT??

  • God and  Soldier are the ones who protect us in life, one guides us from our birth to death and the other protects us in times of war. Here I move forward with the belief that there is a supernatural power called GOD who is at the centre of everything.
  • Now I present to you an anonymous poem which depicts the general tendency of people towards God and the Soldier.

                                                     God and the Soldier
                                                         All men adore
                                                      In times of trouble,
                                                         And no more;
                                                      For when war is over
                                                      And all things righted,
                                                        God is neglected -
                                                   The old Soldier slighted.

Does this poem really depict the "REAL" attitude of people??
When we consider this in the larger scenario, I personally feel it correctly depicts our thankless attitude in majority of the cases towards God and the soldier with few exceptions here and there. I may be wrong but this is what I feel.

GOD:

  • Everyday,we pray to him to give us all the comforts in life and also a life without many difficulties, it is the general tendency of most of the people. But, as we all know, we are bound to face difficulties in life and when they come across, we are at his feet praying for answers and solutions.
  • If we assume that God has shown us the way to solve our problems and if we have successfully come out of difficult situations then DO WE REMEMBER HIM WHEN WE ARE IMMERSED IN GLORY??? DOES THE THOUGHT OF THANKING HIM CROSS OUR MIND??

SOLDIER:

  • Now consider the case of a soldier. A soldier protects his country and its people from enemies. He personally does not have any relationship with millions of his own countrymen. But then, he is still willing to sacrifice his life for his people. He leaves his family, friends and lives in border area in order to safeguard us. And sometimes in doing so he loses his life.

DO WE MIND THEIR UNCONDITIONAL SACRIFICES?? DO WE VALUE THEM?? DO WE REMEMBER THEM??

MY THOUGHT:

  • When we consider the first(GOD) situation, there are some people who sincerely pray and thank god after achieving success. And there are some people who thank god out of fear that something wrong might happen if we do not thank him. And there are others who never thank him.

ARE WE TRUE IN OUR WORSHIP?
It's up to the individual to decide whether he is true in his worship or not.
  • When we consider the second(SOLDIER) situation, the poor soldier never gets the credit or recognition he deserves. There are only a few who remember and value their sacrifices. The larger section of people doesn't even know his name. This brings me to a question :

                           HAVE WE BECOME TOO  SELF-CENTERED??
The answer is YES. Most of us have become too self-centered to such an extent where we forget their sacrifices in a very short span of time.
The conclusion I want to draw out here is
                                            BE GRATEFUL TO GOD!
                              SALUTE THE SOLDIERS!
and remember them in times of trouble and also when the trouble disappears as a result of their contribution.

WHAT WE HAVE TO DO??

"GIVE THEM CREDIT AND VALUE THEIR ROLES IN OUR LIVES!"
